360 Degree Online Safety Award
Ms Juliet Joy, assessor for South West Grid for Learning recently visited the Academy to review the school’s online safety provision. Juliet met staff, parents and carers, Governors and members of the student leadership team and was pleased to find that the school provides a high level of protection for users of digital technologies.
The South West Grid for Learning Trust is a lead partner in the UK Safer Internet Centre, being in the forefront of national and international developments in online safety. To enhance these services, they have developed a tool to help schools address online safety issues. The tool allows schools to evaluate their online safety policy and practice.
To apply for the 360 Degree Safe Online Safety Mark, schools have to reach a series of benchmark levels. The evidence is then verified by a visit from an experienced assessor.
On the 22nd September 2017, Ron Richards, Lead Assessor for the 360 Degree Safe Online Safety Mark congratulated Holly Hall on its success in gaining the award. He commented that it was re-assuring to know that the Academy had put a lot of thought and effort into improving the online safety of staff and young people by addressing these important safeguarding issues.
