Academy Curriculum

At Holly Hall Academy we offer a broad and balanced curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for life in the ever changing world that is 21st Century Modern Britain.

We are proud of the curriculum we offer, which is reviewed annually, to ensure that it meets the needs of all our students, regardless of their academic ability.

In both Year 7 and Year 8 students study a wide breadth of courses, including a core curriculum of English, mathematics and science together with  History, Geography, Religious Studies, PE, ICT, Art & Design, Music, Performing Arts and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education). All students study a modern foreign language with most students studying both French and Spanish.

As students move into Year 9 they start some of their option courses, currently choosing 2 at this stage and completing the process prior to starting Year 10.

The curriculum beyond Year 8 continues to have a strong focus on English, Maths and Science, providing opportunity for students to study the other English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects of Geography, History, French and Spanish through to GCSE level. However we also value other curriculum areas and ensure that students have the opportunity to develop their character and creativity through more practical, technical, artistic and vocational courses.

The importance of Citizenship and British Values, together with guidance on Careers is provided through our highly effective Tutorial and Assembly Programme and Enrichment Day provision, using, where appropriate, external providers. Students in all year groups have further opportunity to develop their wider skills by becoming a Student Leader in one of 5 groups; Sports, Well- Being, Charity, Media and Challenge. Each Student Leadership group has established aims, elected leaders, and is actively involved in making a positive contribution to Academy life.
