Mr Harris, PE Teacher: On Wednesday 5th July fourteen Year 7 students attended a cricket festival at Enville Cricket Club. Twenty-two teams from 13 different schools attended.
The idea of the day was to increase participation in the sport. We had great weather, perfect for cricket. Holly Hall had two teams – A and B. Though both teams lost their first game, they followed with some fantastic play and managed to win their second and third games.
After lunch the play continued into the second round with both Holly Hall teams being put in the same group. Sadly Holly Hall A failed to secure a win but Holly Hall B were victorious.
The Man of the Tournament for team A was Dylan Newman and for team B was Zain Sharif.
Daniel Taylor said “It was an enjoyable day with the whole team working together.”
Ibrahim Saeed said: “It was a great day, especially as we won many games.”
The team members were: Bilal Anwar Raja, Hassan Attique, Daniel Bains, Brandon Franklin, Tayyab Habib, Zain Haytham, Ilyaas Iqbal, Zachary Lamb, Zohaib Majid, Joseph McLeod, Dylan Newman, Ibrahim Saeed, Zain Sharif and Daniel Taylor.
Mr Biddlecombe, PE Teacher: On 5th July the Year 9/10 cricket team went to Castle High to play Hillcrest. It was a lovely summer evening, and we won the toss and decided to field first.
Hillcrest finished on 40 runs all out. All the students fielded well, but a special mention goes to Danyal Khan who has been incredible all season as wicket keeper – showing amazing catching skills at anything that comes his way.
For our innings, the lads knew they needed 41 to win, and from the off they were looking for every run possible. The final score was 41 for only the loss of 3 wickets.
A huge well done to the team who deserved their win: Hamza Al Haznawi, Zeeshan Ali, Suhaib Ali, Yousaf Bhatti, Adil Hanif, Danyal Khan, Tayyab Khan, Hamza Mahmood, Dhiran Patel and Zain Tasleem.
