Mr Hatch, Principal: A very warm welcome back. I hope that you had a fantastic summer break and managed to spend some quality time with your friends and family.
We should begin by congratulating our outgoing Year 11 students on the examination results they achieved this summer. We are delighted that the students responded so well to the particular challenges faced in this year’s examinations. The changes to the grades for English and Mathematics may have caused some confusion but students and parents can be reassured that colleges and employers understand the situation and know how to recognise high achievements. The results gained by our students reflect all of the hard work over the last five years and show the value of the support received from parents, together with the dedicated work of the Holly Hall staff. The qualifications gained should give students confidence in their ability to tackle any challenges that may lie ahead as they continue their education or move on to further training or employment.
The new term sees us take our place as one of the founding members of the Dudley Multi-Academy Trust. We will be working in partnership with Castle, High Arcal and Hillcrest High School under the sponsorship of Dudley College, who were recently graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. The new Multi-Academy Trust will provide those of us in central Dudley with 21st century, world class, opportunities to transform the educational landscape in this part of the borough.
This is an exciting time at the Academy. The enthusiasm for the new opportunities was clearly demonstrated in a recent training day when all members of staff from the four partner schools met together to begin to develop the vision for our shared future. Very soon we will be asking for your views and opinions so that you can help create our vision.
